Timeless and True: a heritage home has it’s character restored
A corroded pipe in the 2nd floor bathroom was the original prompt to begin extensive updates on this 109-year-old heritage home in Elbow Park. This craftsman home, built in 1912, consisted of scattered design ideas that lacked continuity. In order to steward the original character and design of this home while creating effective new layouts, we found ourselves faced with extensive challenges including electrical upgrades, flooring height differences, and wall changes. The kitchen renovations in this home were a key part of the transformation, resulting in a timeless space that perfectly complements the heritage charm. Additionally, we undertook updates in 2 bathrooms, a fresh laundry area, and made improvements to the paint and flooring throughout. The opportunity to repurpose exterior brick that was salvaged during a 1960 addition to the home provided a charming new backsplash in the kitchen and walk-in pantry. The renovations undertaken in this historic home included a stunning transformation of the kitchen, ensuring it now stands as a focal point of both beauty and functionality.
